Name the Cat, Win a Prize

About a month ago a friend whose sister died really needed to get rid of one of three cats, so Dana offered to see if one of the would fit in with our family. We brought her over one evening and this is how the voting went. Dana - Yes, Colby - Yes if I can pull her tail, Eva - Yes like her life depended on it, Lilia Yes- if she can put her in her mouth, Quin - Yes if I can sniff her, and Jason - No! So Dana took her back to the friends house. Wait a minute here, how did I just win that one when the vote was 5 to 1? OK, I wont complain about that one.......

Today at work I get a call from Dana..."Hi I saw our neighbor today (for the first time since we tried out the cat) she is good and I told her we would take the cat." What? What happened to me winning this one? Well, to conclude the story. I know have a cat sitting next to me as I type. But we have a small problem here. We need a name. We have never had problems naming our cats before, we had Tubby, Banana, Taco, Rosie, Bubbles, Cuddles and Sparkles. But Don't tell the new cat how many cats we've had, or how long they lived with us. We are crossing our fingers on this one. Not to mention Bubbles our last cat cost about $350 in unsuccessful vet bills.

Anyway, Dana likes the name Sugar, I like Srubbles, to keep with the les at the end theme, and I got the name from a car wash in Pocatello. And I'm sure Eva wants to call her baby kitty or something like that.

Let us know what you think, you could win the prize for the right name. One hint, the prize is white and meows.

How about Fancy or Sassy, she is a GORGEOUS gal. Or you can go temple and call her Celestine since she is already dressed to go into a session ;-)

and by the way, I was thinking, Wow... Matt would NEVER win that one ;-)

Haha! You guys have had SO many cats! I didn't realize there have been so many. I hope this one works out for a while.

Trevor thinks you should name her Powder, Snowball, Leche, Milk, Avalanche (he just keeps throwing more out there) Whip Cream, my favorite of Trevor's ideas...Cracka. Hahaha!

Oh but wait...if we win the prize...we better not get a delivery of a box that's moving and meowing. :o)

Well, with white fur and green eyes, she's definately not a Yolanda. One thing to think about: she appears to be a relatively mature cat, and probably already had a name with the previous owner. So if you name her something else now, it will confuse her and turn her psycho. She could even become a baby killer. If you look in those green eyes you can kind of see that eerie potential in there - another good reason your NO vote should still apply. But if you must keep her and rename her, she reminds me of one of our old white cats named Nermal, so I vote for that.

Nermal, aww. And guess what dad? She's already sleeping in a box of sawdust in the garage. She's Jason's version of a "shot cat." I said her real name should be Powedered Sugar and we'll just call her Sugar, haha. Her old name was Miracle. Maybe short for Miracle Whip! Hahahaha, I just thought of that. Shan, I think Jason's going to like all of Trevor's suggestions. And I wasn't a "Yes" at the beginning, it was more of a "If I have to...." but we used the excuse my parents were coming to visit and my mom is allergic to take her back. But she still needed a home. She's a really really sweet cat. She still hasn't met Quin since she came back to our house. I'm not used to a cat being so well adjusted after 1 day. She's a good cat.

you all will have to ask Matt about his sharing of the story of Yolanda's name sometime. It was not well received and he was so sure he was going to get a big laugh. I like cats, but I like dogs better, I get out-voted all the time about cats, Jason. I have gotten rid of 3 kittens in 2 days though. Hallelujah!

The story Crystal mentioned is probably one of the few stories that still makes me cringe no matter how many times I remember it. I was explaining to one of our really good friends (who happens to be half black) why we have a cat named Yolanda. Naive as I was I didn't realize how telling her this would go over about as well as a burp in church. If I ever encounter an experience such as this again I'll tell a friend like Bria that mom and dad have a cat named Ashes.

Jason, I think you might have gotten the only true animal-sucker Croshaw sister, although Becky might qualify when it comes to dogs. Abby? I don't really know how she feels about animals. All I know is that if I ever have any, they will be outdoor animals, and they will like it.

I'm sure the kids will love having Sugar around. "Sugar" sounds right to me. That's my vote.

Jason, haven't you learned by now that Dana ALWAYS gets her way in such matters? Me, I just say no to cats. I would just say no to another dog at this point too. I already have enough poop to clean up. I also like the name Sugar...

I'm glad you corrected that "shot-cat" comment. We try to avoid shooting our cats - our own cats that is.
Dad
P.S. there never was a better shop cat than Yolanda. One of these days though, she's going to get her tail or a paw, or worse cut off as she cavalierly jumps onto the table saw while it's running.

I was wondering when another pet would enter the Delgadillo household. I hope Texas is better to your cats than Idaho was. I vote for Sugar. For some reason I can just hear Eva calling, here Sugar, here Sugar. I don't think I have ever seen a cat with such green eyes.

Going with the les theme you should call her homeless. I know, that's mean but Sugar is cute. I think you should call her sugar baby. Wow, you have really had a few cats. We are hoping for a dog this spring/summer.

I read this a long time ago when there were no comments yet. Just to clarify for Leslie - I like pets, but I won't have any until I'm home (and awake) for more than a couple hours on any given day. And even if I wanted one right now, my landlord doesn't allow it.
