South Beach

Jason and I have decided its time to take drastic action. We're starting the South Beach diet today. I figured if I put it on the blog we'd really have to stick to it. I got the book on Saturday and decided it's not really a "diet." The man who wrote the book is a cardiologist from Miami, and he actually created the diet for his patients who were at risk for heart attack. He never planned on it being used as a way to make people look better, just to make his patients healthier. Other people found out about it and started using it and it spread like wildfire. It's all about good fats and no bad carbs. Whole grain foods, olive oil, etc, no white sugar. For the first two weeks we don't get any breads, pasta, rice, beans, FRUIT...so, here goes nothing. We'll take pictures every Sunday night/Monday morning and report back. Go us!

Good job guys. It's a little scary to start a new eating plan, but I know you can do it.

Good Luck guys! I am working at the same problem, but don't want to post it because well when it comes to my weight, I don't want accountability. LOL

Oh I almost forgot. No, we have never seen jelly fish at Corpus. My friend has, but I know jelly fish come in seasons. I know the last time we were there, people said they were seeing some, but we were on the lookout but did not see any. Thank goodness.

Just remember, you LOVE Jason and he LOVES you! When you are at each others throats because both of you haven't had ANY sugar for a day or two you will need this advice!! Colin and I did SB when Mia was 6 months. I went down to a size 10 and was very happy!!! I hope you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE chicken. It is a great way of eating, that's for sure.

It is very, very hard for the first couple weeks, but I actually think after that (stage 3) it was much easier. I found a BUNCH of recipes online that I used. I was a big fan of the omelet/spinach things that I think are in the book.

I felt pretty drained at first, but I kept on and after about 6 weeks, I could absolutely tell a huge difference in my clothes, face.. everything.

I found it pretty expensive too, but again, it gets better as time passes. Good luck! I know it is very, very tough, but you can do it!

Good job guys! We'll definitely be your cheerleaders. I just started weight watchers myself. I'm determined to lose those 15 post-marriage lbs.!

I have to say I got all excited for a second when I read the title of your blog but then disappointed when found out that you weren't coming to visit me...just going on the diet. :-(
