The Best Way to Spread Christmas Cheer is Singing Loud for All to Hear

You'd think this post was about us seeing Santa, but that hasn't happened yet.
Colby's school had a Christmas program last night at a local all-you-can-eat pizza place so it could also be a fundraiser. It was crazy busy, and I mean CRAAAAZY, especially with kindergarten being at least 3 times as big as the other classes. But it was very cute and sweet. Colby has improved drastically over last year's Christmas program. Although he was swaying a little and looking for us at the same time and fell off the first row of risers and almost knocked over the microphone. Too bad I didn't get that on video.
Something I noticed that was weird, are there two versions of Away in a Manger? I thought the song went, "The stars in the heavens looked down where he lay," but the kids sang, "The stars in the sky..." which is just bizarre since they were singing about Jesus to begin with, how is "heaven" not an okay word to use?
I got to talk to Colby's teacher and she said he has been sooo good this week. Last week was his first FULL WEEK of green smiley faces!!! I was so excited for him! Then she told me she thinks it is because she's totally abusing the Santa Clause thing. She has a naughty and a nice list on the blackboard and Colby must really want to stay on the nice list. :) He's so excited about Santa coming to town!!
Eva's preschool singing post is yet to come!

Wish I could see it! I love Christmas programs! My littest brothers are so much younger that I remember (crying!) at theirs. I learned different words than the LDS hymnbook for Away in the Manger (and a different tune!) and for Joy to the world and I went to lots and lots of churches. (Joy to the world says "And heaven and angels sing, and heavens and angels sing...) and I mess it up EVERY year when I go caroling with the young women. Not as bad as my "O Holy Night" soprano solo... but I digress.

Love the joys of Christmas so much! We have not seen Santa yet either, I feel like our visit will be limited to the free Santa at the Ward party Saturday ;-)

Hope the season continues to be blessed for you all~

Last year ours was limited to our ward party too, and our ward doesn't bring the REAL Santa. He is "Texas Santa" and he wears a trench coat and cowboy boots and beard. So this year we need to figure out some other way to see Santa wearing a red suit and hat and white beard.

I WISH you'd gotten that on video. But the image in my head is probably almost as good as the real thing was.

Dana, I once heard a children's choir sing, "We wish you a happy holiday, we wish you a happy holiday, we wish you a happy holiday, and a happy new year." Seriously? I'm over the PC Christmas music.

Santa and toys - the great motivator. I remember going through those same emotions Colby is in right now. It was effective for a while. Good thing we have religion as adults, which works year-round

i'm guessing the little boy bobbing on the second row wasn't colby, since he couldn't possibly have knocked over the microphone, but he could have fallen off the risers. adorable. keep those videos coming. i love these little kids so much. it is hard to be apart at christmas. sigh................grandma

Dangggg, I so wish you would have gotten Colby falling off the risers and knocking over the microphone on video! That is hilarious! So we had our ward Christmas party last night and they didn't even have a Santa, how lame is that? Even lamer than having a Texas Santa (which is hilarious, by the way). I did take Lakai to the mall to see Santa and he bawled his head off. I will be posting pictures of that soon, haha. Can't wait to see Eva's video!!

That is totally lame Shan!!! Don't people know how exciting that is for kids?
Mom, Colby is below that bobbing boy. He starts swaying a few seconds into the video.
